Proud of Our Past and Looking Forward to Our Future

Newfane, New York is a small Western New York town located on the shores of Lake Ontario in Niagara County. What Newfane lacks in size and population, it makes up for in rich history and communal spirit. Many Newfane residents were born here. Neighbors grew up together. Children attended outstanding public schools. Small businesses are vibrant and viable. People are friendly and hard working. It’s been this way ever since Newfane was incorporated in 1824 by James Van Horn.

Hospitality and location are why Newfane is a popular vacation and traveling destination. Our town is located on two New York State designated driving trails. The Seaway Trail connects Northern New York to mighty Niagara Falls and goes directly through the quaint, scenic hamlet of Olcott Beach. The other is the world-renowned Niagara Wine Trail, which follows NY Route 104 and winds around Newfane as it showcases the several famously beautiful wineries. Due to our proximity to Lake Ontario and its weather patterns, the Niagara Wine Trail has nutrient-rich soil, which not only produces some of the tastiest wines, but also the finest fruits and vegetables. This can be experienced for yourself at one of our weekly farmer’s markets in the summer.

There’s plenty to see and do while you’re visiting Newfane and Olcott Beach. There are several motels, inns, bed and breakfasts and rental cottages for every budget and personality. There’s locally-owned shopping and fine dining at every turn like the Lakeview Village Shoppes located right on the Lake. Olcott Beach is also home to some of the best fishing in the world. You can charter a boat out on Lake Ontario or fish off the shore at Burt Dam in Fisherman’s Park. Boating enthusiasts can spend a weekend out on Lake Ontario or drift down Eighteen Mile Creek with easy water access at the Town of Newfane Marina where dock slips and launch fees are very inexpensive. Families can enjoy and picnic in our pristine 300-acre Krull Park or experience the Olcott Beach Carousel Park where all rides are just 25 cents.

There’s something for everyone to enjoy in Newfane, New York. We look forward to seeing you!
